Report on TETFund NRF Monitoring and Verification Visit – 28th July 2025

On 28th July 2025, the University had the honor of receiving the TETFund National Research Fund (NRF) Monitoring Team from Abuja on a courtesy visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Owunari Abraham Georgewill, ably represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Development, Professor Iyeopu M. Siminialayi.

The purpose of the visit was to conduct monitoring and verification of ongoing NRF projects within the institution, with particular focus on the research project led by Professor Chimezie Jason Ogugbue, titled:

“Assessment of Biogenic Metal Oxide-Biochar Nanocomposites with Immobilized Bacteria for Enhanced Biorestoration of Ecosystem Services in Petroleum-Perturbed Soils”

This project is funded under the Batch 8 (2021) National Research Fund Grant Cycle.

The evaluation exercise was conducted against the project’s objectives, approved work plan, key performance indicators, and budgetary provisions.

The visit was highly successful. The Monitoring Team expressed satisfaction with the progress made and commended the quality of the presentation. The event concluded with a group photograph to mark the occasion.
