The University of Port Harcourt has established itself as a national leader in applied research and development through a robust network of specialized research centres and institutes. Over the years, the University has developed a strategic and diverse portfolio of centres across key sectors, including energy, health, environmental sustainability, education, governance, public policy, and technology. Institutes such as the Institute of Petroleum Studies, the Centre for Molecular Diagnostics, the Claude Ake School of Government, and the Centre for Malaria Research and Phytomedicine have become nationally and regionally recognized for their contributions to knowledge and development.
