"Dr. Anthony Ojonimi Onoja, is an Associate Professor of Agricultural Economics (Resource and Environmental Economist) at University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He is a former Head, Department of Agricultural Economics and Extension, an adjunct lecturer at the Institute of Natural Resource Environment and Sustainable Development (INRES), a part-time Lecturer at the Centre for Marine Pollution Monitoring and Seafood Safety (CEMPOS) in the University of Port Harcourt and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institute for Agricultural Research and Development (IAR & D), both at University of Port Harcourt. Dr. Onoja is also currently an Associate Research Fellow at the Resource and Environmental Policy Research Center (REPRC), University of Nigeria Nsukka, a Project funded by Environment for Development (EfD: https://efdinitiative.org/nigeria ). He obtained a PhD in Agricultural Economics (Resource and Environmental Economics option) from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2015. He is currently the President, Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet: http://www.aprnetworkng.org). He was a Visiting Research Scholar (May-August 2018) at University of South Africa, Johannesburg. He is also an Executive Board Member (West African Regional Representative) of the African Association of Agricultural Economists (AAAE). Dr. Onoja has been involved in field research (both qualitative and quantitative) for over 20 years now. He is an expert in agricultural policy analysis, trade/macroeconomic policy, applied econometrics, climate change and sustainable agricultural production/consumption as well as an agribusiness finance/project analyst. He serves in the editorial boards of four reputable journals including IFAMR (a Scopus journal), NAPReJ, OJAR and AGEERS. A certified reviewer of various Journals, Dr. Onoja is widely published and well travelled with over 75 peer reviewed publications in reputable journals, books, edited conference proceedings and book chapters. He has had several research presentations at the Trade Policy Training Centre in Africa (TRAPCA) in Arusha, Tanzania. He was also appointed as an Expert Reviewer of the Working Group I contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report and also a reviewer of some international research grants proposals. He had won scholarships, fellowships and research grants from various bodies (national and international) e.g. from TETFund (Nigeria), Global Development Network(GDN)/USAID, USAID/Michigan State University, Forum for Agriculture in Africa (FARA), Association of African Universities (AAU), SIDA & AGRIFOSE2030/University of Gothenburg. A consultant to World Bank/Fadama programme and GTZ, he is also a recipient of an international mobility scholarship funded by the European Union in the Intra-ACP Academic Mobility Scheme called TRECCAFRICA (which saw him doing a PhD exchange in trans-disciplinary studies in climate change at Mekelle University, Ethiopia).He had twice won awards for outstanding contribution to research and development at University of Port Harcourt. In 2017 he was named City Law Review (CTLR) Researcher of the Year by an Abuja based Magazine with bias for public policy and law. He is a member of International Association of Agricultural Economists, IAAE, African Association of Agricultural Economists, AAAE, Nigerian Association of Agricultural Economists, NAAE and Agricultural Policy Research Network (APRNet). Agriculture, Nutrition & Health (ANH) Academy and African Association of Resource and Environmental Economists (AFAERE). He is conversant with the use of econometric and statistical software such as EViews, Frontier 4.1C, STATA, SPSS, MS Excel, Limpdep, R and Genstat. He also uses GIS software such as DSSAT and Q-GIS fairly. Dr. Onoja was one of the Local Organizing Committee members of the 2019 AAAE-NAAE conference held in Abuja. Dr. Onoja is also a public policy analyst dwelling mostly on economic and agricultural policy issues at the national level."
